The SZN series signaling devices are designed to help blind and visually impaired people navigate traffic-light-controlled intersections safely. They supplement existing traffic lights with audible signals.
The device is easily installed on the outside of the traffic light housing and is electrically connected via three wires in parallel to the existing pedestrian traffic lights—into the terminal block inside the traffic light housing.
STOP – the red light is indicated by a frequency of approximately 1.5 pulses per second.
GO – the green light is indicated by a frequency of approximately 8 pulses per second.
The SZN-1 (230 VAC powered) and SZN-8 (24–48 V AC/DC powered) models are preferred; the SZN-6 and SZN-7 models are being phased out.

The unit must be mounted on the traffic signal housing so that the Teco a. s. Kolín company logo faces downward toward the ground |
The SZN-x device is installed on the outer wall of the pedestrian traffic signal housing. Using the template (included in the package), first mark three 3.2 mm diameter holes for mounting and one 7 mm diameter hole for feeding through the power cable. After drilling the holes, feed the cable up to the top of the housing to the terminal block and secure the device with M3 nuts. After mechanical installation, proceed with the electrical installation.
We also recommend following these instructions:
- Seal the cable entry hole with sealant.
- Do not shorten the power cord; leave it coiled inside the housing.
- Install vertically (with the Teco a. s. Kolín nameplate facing down toward the ground).
