The SC-8101 module is a system communication module that allows the central unit to be expanded with two additional serial channels that support UNI mode (a general-purpose asynchronous communication channel), PC mode, and PFB mode (for connecting PROFIBUS DP slave stations to a PLC). .
The TECOMAT PLC central units allow for the connection of up to 6 serial channels on a single TCL3 bus line, i.e., 3 SC-8101 communication modules.
The SC-8101 contains 2 serial channels, each equipped with seperate RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces.
The module is equipped with two screwless, removable 10-terminal connectors that lock in place when inserted into the module. Each channel has a separate connector; the maximum conductor cross-section is 1.5 mm².
The configuration of an RS-232 or RS-485 interface is made during serial channel configuration in the Mosaic environment (only RS-485 can be used in PFB mode).
Table 1 shows the terminal connections for the SC-8101 module.

RS-485 Line Termination
RS-485 line termination is performed by connecting the BT+ terminal to TxRx+ and the BT– terminal to TxRx– of the corresponding channel. The RS-485 line must be terminated at each device located at either end of the line. If a device is connected in the middle of the line, termination is not required.
