For RFox2 modules that require an external antenna, we supply the following antennas as standard: 2JW0315-868-C675B (longer rod), AN-06 (short antenna), and 2J6615B_868MHz-020RG174-C20N (“puck” design for a conductive enclosure).
For installations where the antenna must be routed out of the control cabinet (e.g., a sheet-metal enclosure), the 2J6615B_868MHz-020RG174-C20N antenna is suitable (note the short cable); antennas designed for LTE modems, such as the AO-AGSM-MG5S - while it has poorer performance at 868 MHz, the main advantage may be the ability to mount it on the distribution cabinet or even further away from it (5-meter cable).

Installation notes
The antenna is ground-plane-dependent. It achieves optimal performance when mounted on:
- a metal rack,
- a metal panel,
- a grounded metal surface.
Without a sufficient ground plane, the following may occur:
- reduced gain,
- worsened VSWR,
- shortened RF communication range.
Installation Recommendations
Recommended:
- installation on the top surface of the control panel,
- a minimum distance of several centimeters from other RF antennas,
- cable runs as short as possible.
Not Recommended:
- installation under a metal cover,
- proximity to RF converters and power cables,
- installation inside a completely enclosed metal space.
